A pastel de nata with a view of Príncipe Real

Tradition in Lisbon’s coolest neighborhood.

Nestled among centuries-old trees, concept stores, and tranquil gardens, Manteigaria do Príncipe Real invites you to take a moment to relax. The Pastel de Nata comes warm from the oven and perfectly complements the calmer pace of the area.

For a moment of pleasure after a visit to the organic market, on the way to the viewpoint, or right there on one of the garden benches.

What to Do in Príncipe Real While Eating Our Pastel de Nata

In Príncipe Real, the Pastel de Nata is just the beginning. There’s a garden with a centuries-old cypress tree waiting for you, museums that house dinosaurs, and streets where the architecture tells stories. While you nibble on the crispy pastry of yet another pastel, you can:

  • Relax in the Jardim do Príncipe Real, surrounded by lawns, kiosks, and a lake with a fountain. If you go on a Saturday, you’ll find the organic market.
  • Take a peek inside Edifício da Imprensa Nacional, where entire chapters of our history were printed.
  • Visit Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, with dinosaurs, minerals, skeletons, and unexpected exhibits.
  • Take a stroll through Jardim Botânico de Lisboa, right next door, with its 4 hectares of plants from all over the world.
  • Enter Casa Museu Amália Rodrigues, where the supreme voice of fado still echoes.
  • Explore the Embassy, a 19th-century Neo-Moorish palace transformed into a shopping gallery.

Savor the trendy Lisbon experience, with all the trimmings you could want. And with a Pastel de Nata in hand.

I stumbled upon this little pastel de nata shop, but wow, what a surprise! I never understood why people always rave about these pastéis when they return from Portugal – try them yourself! Super crispy and creamy. A really cute shop, especially for takeaways and little corners. The Lisbon heat is amazing. Highly recommended!!

A must-try, and perhaps the best Pastel de Nata I've ever tasted. It didn't disappoint. I'll be back to take some boxes home.

Manteigaria is a must-visit for lovers of Pastel de Nata. They are exceptional — perfectly crispy pastry with a silky, rich cream, simply unforgettable. What made the experience even more special was the staff, warm, welcoming and genuinely friendly. A true Lisbon gem that lives up to its reputation.

The best pastéis de nata in Lisbon are from Manteigaria! This shop is very small and well-run, and the staff are always friendly. The pastéis are superb, with just the right amount of crispness and sweetness. Fantastic.
