The Pastel de Nata – what a glorious treat!

Between Chamberí and Malasaña, the Pastel de Nata from Manteigaria Quevedo is pure poetry.

The Glorieta de Quevedo is a point of arrival and departure, a link between two neighborhoods with distinct temperaments: Chamberí is traditional, old, with aristocratic features; Malasaña is rebellious, lively, and the epicenter of Madrid’s nightlife. What unites them is a Pastel de Nata fresh from the oven, toasted and crispy, to start the day or end the night.

How to get to Quevedo’s Manteigaria

The Quevedo Metro station has an exit across the street and is served by Line 2 (Red). If you decide to explore Calle Fuencarral, Bilbao Station is less than a 10-minute walk away, served by Line 1 (Blue) and Line 4 (Brown).

By bus, lines 3, 16, 21, 37, 39, 61 and 149 stop near Glorieta de Quevedo. Always check schedules and routes on the EMT website.

What to do in Quevedo while enjoying our pastel de nata

  • Calle Ponzano is Chamberí’s most famous street. Old taverns coexist with top restaurants that have changed what you eat in Madrid. There’s activity at any time, but late afternoon is when you best understand the ritual of the Madrid aperitivo.
  • Plaza del Dos de Mayo is the heart of Malasaña. It was here that Madrid rose up against Napoleon in 1808, and it was around this square that, in the 1980s, the Movida Madrileña was born, the movement that opened Spanish culture to the world. Today it has terraces full of people and an energy that cannot be explained, only experienced.
  • Andén Cero is one of Madrid’s most unique places. This former metro station closed in 1966 and has been preserved with its original tiles, posters, and ticket booths from 1919. Entry is free, with guided tours available by prior reservation, and trains still pass on the other side of the glass.
  • Calle Fuencarral has more than just shops. The historic Cine Paz has been a prominent venue for art-house cinema since 1943. Further along, the Cine Proyecciones occupies a 1932 Art Deco façade that has stood the test of time. The interior has been renovated, but the building’s charm remains.
  • Plaza de Olavide is one of Chamberí’s most beloved squares. Built around a garden, surrounded by terraces and taverns, it’s where the neighborhood’s residents meet on Sunday mornings to enjoy life at a leisurely pace, amidst one of Europe’s most bustling capitals.

Simply the best pastéis de nata. Don't forget to add a pinch of cinnamon and enjoy! There are no tables available, but you can sit on the bench outside.
