Manteigaria between History and Modernity

Belém is one of the most prestigious areas of Lisbon. It’s where the President of the Republic lives, where the city’s iconic tower is located, and where the Discoveries are celebrated in one of Portugal’s most famous monuments.

Stock up before setting off to discover the history, arts and architecture of the area; there’s always a fresh batch of Pastéis de Nata coming out of the two Manteigaria factories in Belém.

How to get to Manteigaria in Belém

What to do in Belém while you eat our Pastel de Nata?

Belém has history, culture, and a view over the Tagus River that begs to be savored with a Pastel de Nata in hand. With a box of half a dozen under your arm to keep your energy levels up, take the opportunity to:

  • Stroll through the gardens next to the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and visit this imposing building of Manueline architecture and UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • See the collection at Jardim Botânico Tropical, a true living museum.
  • Be amazed by the Museu dos Coches, with some carriages as golden as one of our Pastéis de Nata.
  • Explore the CCB and its contemporary art exhibitions.
  • Go to MAAT: Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia and see what the future may hold for us.
  • Climb the Torre de Belém for one of the best views over the river.
  • Stroll along the riverbank to the Padrão dos Descobrimentos.
  • Sit on a bench by the Tagus River and watch the boats go by.
  • Or stay at Manteigaria de Belém and watch us make the next batch. It’s a spectacle in itself.

Simply the best pastéis de nata. Don't forget to add a pinch of cinnamon and enjoy! There are no tables available, but you can sit on the bench outside.

I just tried a pastel de nata for the first time, and for me, Christmas has already begun. What a wonderful and delicious experience! Great place to go!

Excellent, excellent, excellent! The best Pastel de Nada I've ever had in Lisbon! The pastry isn't greasy (as is often the case elsewhere) and the cream is delicious! Pure bliss!
